Dr. Achyuta Samanta founder of Kalinga English Medium School (KEMS); which provides good teaching, high accommodation

He is a promoter of culture and the arts through Kadambini Media Pvt Ltd (KMPL), an organisation he founded. He has been the organiser of Nanhi Pari, a Little Miss India competition, since 2000. He has established 25 spiritual centres and shrines, and is in the process of setting up 'Gandhi Gram' in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi, a tribal museum to showcase tribal life, art and culture, and a centre for yoga and spiritualism. He got Honorary Degree of Doctor of Literature (D.Lit.) from Daffodil International University.

Samanta was born to Shri Anadi Charan Samanta and Smt. Nilima Rani Samanta in the village of Kalarabanka in Cuttack District of Odisha in 1965.His father died when Samanta was four, and he grew up in abject poverty with his widowed mother and seven siblings. Samanta received an M.Sc in Chemistry from Utkal University. He had a decade-long experience in teaching in colleges, mostly at Maharshi College under Utkal University, in Bhubaneswar as a chemistry lab assistant. However, Iti had a strong bent towards writing. Accordingly, after completion of the engineering degree altered her stream and enrolled herself for a Post Graduate Degree in Odia Literature. Later, she also earned a Master’s Degree in Mass Communications and Advanced Journalism from Utkal University, Odisha. Later on, she did her Ph.D. in literature from Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. Dr. Iti also is the proud recipient of the Junior and Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture.

Prof. Achyuta Samanta is an educationist, humanitarian and a statesman. He grew up in Kalarabanka, Odisha amidst severe poverty with seven siblings and a widow mother. He managed to complete his Masters, struggling and braving the hardships from the age of four when he lost his father in a train accident.

Besides his contribution to the field of Education and Social Service, he has contributed extensively to the fields of Women Empowerment, Rural

Development, Tribal Upliftment, Art, Culture, Literature, Media and Television and Spiritualism.

Impressed by his outstanding contribution to the field of Education and Tribal Welfare in Odisha, he was offered to contest for Rajya Sabha in 2018. He was an elected member of Rajya Sabha from Biju Janta Dal and later in 2019, he contested from Kandhamal Constituency of Odisha. He is currently an elected member of Lok Sabha and works with a vision to make Kandhamal a model constituency.

Through his life and work, Prof. Achyuta Samanta has inspired millions around the world with a vision of peaceful and happy world through his flagship programs – Art of Giving, Kanya Kiran and Education for All. He is a bachelor, wedded to his work and leads a simple life in a two room apartment in Bhubaneswar, Odisha without a piece of land or property on his name.

He is a member of University Grants Commission (UGC), Executive Committee Member of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Academic Council Member of Central University of Orissa, Serving Member of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Coir Board of India, National Executive Council Member of Indian Society for Technical Education, and Executive Committee Member of Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA)

He was also a serving member of international bodies including the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), United States of America; Institute of International Education (IIE), New York City; Association of University of Asia Pacific (AUAP); University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP), Bangkok, Thailand; Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health (APACPH); United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), and Asia Economic Forum (AEF), CIFEJ (Centre International Du Films Pour L'enfance Et La Jeunesse, Dubai).
